Ernst Just was born on May 19, 1941 and passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Ernst was a resident of Savannah, Georgia at the time of his passing.

He graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelors and Masters degree and from The Ohio State University with a PhD. in Chemistry.

Ernie served in the U.S. Navy.

He was married to Judith.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Despite the fact that the first time I ever met Ernie was on that first bus ride, headed to that first day of school at the Prep, he was the closest I’ve ever come to having a brother. From our days in the Prep band to several summers after graduation spent at Gonzaga, helping rebuild and repair the retreat house, we did everything together.

 

However, life intervenes and there were only a few times after college that we were able to get together; but I never lost that feeling of brotherhood towards him. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear of his death until about 6 months after it happened. I couldn’t believe it. We were supposed to go on...forever? I miss you Ernie, but I know you “[did] not go gentle into that good night.”
